On the eve of the Day of Remembrance of Pontian Greeks’ Genocide around the world will be held an action «Мы помним. Δεν ξεχνάμε. We remember!»
On the initiative of the World Pontian Youth Coordinating Commitee in the period from 14 till 22 May 2016 in the world's major cities (Stuttgart, Düsseldorf, New York, Boston, Sydney, St. Petersburg, Larnaca, Thessaloniki, Mariupol , Odessa, Tbilisi, Yerevan, Tashkent and others) by Pontic youth organizations are held events dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of Pontian Greeks’ Genocide under the slogan: «Мы помним. Δεν ξεχνάμε. We remember!»
The main city of holding of action in Russia will be St. Petersburg.
The purpose of the action is to raise the awareness of people around the world about the serious crime — about deliberate physical extermination the native Greek population of the historical Pontus, realized by the government of the Young Turks and continued by Kemalists in period of 1914–1923 years in the Ottoman Empire.
May 21 at 14.00 in St. Petersburg in the Greek park Youth Council of FNCA of Greeks of Russia, Greek community of St. Petersburg "Petropolis" in cooperation with the Greek youth organization of St. Petersburg "Aetos" will hold a memory mass meeting. The event will be preceded by a press conference which will take place May 19 at 13.00 in the House of Nationalities. At the press conference members of Greek community "Petropolis" will tell about the Genocide of the Pontian Greeks and commemorative events dedicated to the tragedy."Despite the fact that the main city of the action in Russia was selected St. Petersburg, we invite all of our friends in all parts of Russia to take part in the action", - said chairman of the World Coordinating
